Weekly Round-Up
Parliament returned this week, following prorogation and last week’s local elections, for a new session and a Queen’s Speech.
We needed a Queen's Speech that would tackle the cost-of-living crisis, with an emergency budget including a windfall tax to get money off people's bills.
We needed a real plan for growth to get our economy firing on all cylinders, with a Climate Investment Pledge and a commitment to buy, make and sell more in Britain.
Instead, we got a Queen’s Speech without any plan to tackle the cost of living crisis or low growth which is doing so much damage to our economy.
The people of Enfield North, and the whole of the UK, deserve better.
My Queen’s Speech response
For far too long, the government’s flagship “Levelling Up” slogan, has delivered nothing for the people of our borough.
This Queen’s Speech was an opportunity to change that, but once again Enfield was completely ignored.
The council have tried consistently to work with central government to get extra funding, after their budget has been cut by over £70 million since 2018.
Time after time they have had the door slammed in their face.
The Queen’s Speech offers nothing by way of the new funding or new ideas that communities like ours desperately need.
Watch me call ministers out on their complete inaction.
NHS Waiting Times
This week saw NHS waiting lists climb to their highest ever level, with 6.4 million people waiting for care.
It’s unacceptable for patients to be left waiting so long, whether it’s for a GP appointment, an operation, or an ambulance.
12 years of Conservative mismanagement has left our health service unable to provide the care that patients require.
The longer we give the Conservatives, the longer patients wait.
I spoke to Gloria De Piero on GB News about this government’s shameful record on the NHS, and why they simply cannot grasp the scale of the problem they have created.

Welcoming Ukranian refugees to Enfield
Like many other MPs, my office received numerous requests for support from those with family or loved ones in Ukraine.
I was delighted that we were able to support some of those constituents, and this week I had chance to personally welcome them to our community here in Enfield.
If you’re a constituent who has, or has a relative or loved on that has been affected by the crisis in Ukraine, please do get in touch with my office on feryal.clark.mp@parliament.uk, and my team will do all they can to help.
