Weekly Round-Up
This week we have seen yet more shameful behaviour from a Prime Minister who is unfit to lead our country.
The public have had enough. They deserve a government that is fully focused on the cost of living crisis.
The Prime Minister is responsible but so are all the Tory MPs and cabinet ministers who are keeping him in place, paralysed, doing nothing about the big issues facing our country. They must act now.
Holocaust Memorial Day
This week I had the honour of speaking in the Holocaust Memorial Day debate, commemorating the victims of the Holocaust and other genocides around the world.
Holocaust Memorial Day is an opportunity to remember, reflect, and reaffirm.
Remember the atrocities of the past, reflect on the impact they have had around the world, and reaffirm our commitment to ensuring such terrible events never happen again.
In my speech, which you can watch below, I called on the Government to commit to join with many European countries and now the United States in recognising the Armenian Genocide.
1.5 million Armenian men, women and children were killed, and had their culture systematically destroyed, between 1915 and 1917.
It’s time for the government to stand with our allies and recognise the genocide.
Gambling Venues in Enfield North
Gambling venues have been breaking up our high streets for far too long.
In Enfield North, we have seen a number of gambling venues pop up in the last few years, and they are not only bringing problems with them, but also replacing key community assets,
Yet another bank branch that closed on Hertford Road in the last 12 months has been replaced by a gambling venue.
Sadly this is becoming all too common and both local residents and councils are powerless to stop this from happening.
The government have been dragging their feet on a review of existing legislation, and need to act now to give local communities more say over their area.
I raised this issue with Jacob Rees-Mogg at Business Questions on Thursday, and will continue to press Ministers to ensure this problem is not ignored.
