Holocaust Memorial Day

This week I had the honour of speaking in the Holocaust Memorial Day debate, commemorating the victims of the Holocaust and other genocides around the world.

Holocaust Memorial Day is an opportunity to remember, reflect, and reaffirm.

Remember the atrocities of the past, reflect on the impact they have had around the world, and reaffirm our commitment to ensuring such terrible events never happen again.

In my speech, which you can watch below, I called on the Government to commit to join with many European countries and now the United States in recognising the Armenian Genocide.

1.5 million Armenian men, women and children were killed, and had their culture systematically destroyed, between 1915 and 1917.

It’s time for the government to stand with our allies and recognise the genocide.
