Weekly Update

This week has been shaped by the Government’s shambolic Rwanda policy, which has already wasted £290 million of taxpayers' money without a single asylum seeker being sent. As the Shadow Home Secretary pointed out yesterday, this is basically £100m for every Home Secretary trip to Rwanda.

This Government’s time has run out. The Prime Minister can’t solve the Tory boats crisis, grow the economy, or hold his party together. The Government have lost their will to lead and all sense of direction, and it is working people paying the price for this incompetence.

Britain deserves so, so much better than this Tory Government.

Changes to my role

It has been the honour of my life to serve as Shadow Minister for Primary Care and Patient Safety over the last two years. During that time, I’ve worked hard to address the inadequacies women face in accessing healthcare and primary care.

I’ve worked with brilliant staff and stakeholders from across the industry.

But I have now moved to the Shadow Home Affairs team as Shadow Minister for Crime Reduction, and with the current knife crime numbers around the country, as well as youth violence, there is a lot of work to do.

Enfield North Banking Hub

I spoke to ITV London yesterday about the news that Enfield North is receiving a banking hub.

Since 2020 banking services in Enfield have dwindled. With the closure of Barclays Bank, the Santander on Hertford Road and the announcement that Virgin Money in Enfield town has now closed its doors, I know residents are struggling to access banking services.

I’ve worked tirelessly to make the case for banking facilities for our community - the culmination of this being this banking hub.

I can’t wait to see the bank open in 2024! You can see more here

North Middlesex University Hospital Visit

I had the pleasure of visiting North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust last week to meet their dedicated teams in the emergency department & the emergency mental health team.

Despite the Tories failing our NHS, our local services are working night and day to serve the residents in Enfield.

Health Questions

Women continue to be failed by maternity services across the country despite a string of scandals highlighting the dire state of our maternity units.

Speaking to local health leaders I know things are just getting worse & worse.

My question to the Government can be found here.
