Weekly Round-Up

As we approach Christmas, families and businesses across Enfield North are continuing to face immense challenges.

A Government that has run out of ideas, has reduced itself to demonising nurses rather than giving the NHS the workforce it needs to get patients seen on time.

It is playing politics with our transport system, leaving people unable to travel to see their loved ones.

With the Baroness Mone story not going away, it also finds itself embroiled in yet another story of sleaze and corruption.

People in our community have had enough.

Tired of a Westminster system that hoards power, and simply doesn’t work for them.

Keir Starmer has been clear this week, the next Labour government will be the first to give power away, to those who know how to use it best, local communities.

Health Questions

At Health Questions this week, I questioned the Secretary of State on the concerning rise of Strep A cases in children.

With a lack of GP appointments and reported shortages in anti-biotics, parents are understandably concerned.

Ministers need to give our health service the resources it needs, to ensure care is available for all those who need to access it.

APPG Dentistry Reception

It was a pleasure to join colleagues from across Parliament for the APPG on Dentistry’s reception, where I had the opportunity to speak with leaders from the British Dentistry Association.

No matter how much Ministers try and sweep it under the carpet, the crisis of access to NHS dentistry is simply not going away.

The forthcoming Health & Social Care Committee inquiry into NHS Dentistry will be an important step in assessing the scale of the crisis and scrutinising the Government’s response.

Small Business Saturday

Last weekend we celebrated Small Business Saturday, a great opportunity to recognise the immense contributions small businesses make to our local community.

Whether on rip-off rents, business rates, or energy security, small businesses are getting a raw deal from this Government, and they deserve better.

As part of the weekend, I had the pleasure of opening Çigköftem, a new vegan wrap shop on Hertford Road.

If you’re passing, pop in and check them out!
