Weekly Round-Up
This week we have seen some of the most significant industrial action ever in the UK, with the Royal College of Nursing going out on strike for the first time in its history.
This is a dire indictment on Rishi Sunak's government, and their shameful treatment of our public services.
I stand in solidarity with nursing staff, and will always defend their right to strike.
Make no mistake, the responsibility for this disruption lies squarely at the door of ministers who would rather play politics than get round the table and start negotiating.
Our society is fundamentally broken, and the British people have had enough.
As my friend and colleague Angela Eagle MP said at PMQs this week, it’s time for the PM to give the country the Christmas present it deserves, a general election.
If last night's fantastic result for Labour's Andrew Western in the Stretford & Urmston by-election tells us anything, is that it's a present the British public don't want to wait for.
Prime Ministers Questions
This week I had the opportunity to question the PM on the untold damage the shameful Section 21, which allows for “no fault evictions”, is doing to families in Enfield North.
The Tories promised to scrap this legislation three years ago, yet we are still waiting for them to pull their finger out.
Our community cannot afford to keep waiting.

Aortic Dissection Debate
I responded to an important Westminster Hall Debate this week on aortic dissection, a condition that causes around 2,000 deaths a year.
Commonly misdiagnosed, and with a patchy screening programme, too many ADT patients are falling through the gaps and not getting the treatment they need.
Only by recognising these pressures and giving our NHS the staff, it needs to get patients seen on time, can we improve outcomes for patients.
Women’s Health Roundtable
This week I joined a number of leaders from our NHS, and the charity sector, to discuss the Government’s Women’s Health Strategy.
With our healthcare system failing women at every turn, we cannot afford for the Government to think the strategy means their job is done.
Whilst it is a start, we need to see much more ambition to tackle the backlogs that are preventing women from accessing the care they need.
Cold Weather Payment
Following this recent cold snap, a “cold weather” payment has been triggered for a number of postcodes across Enfield North.
If you are in receipt of Universal Credit, income support, or a range of other benefits, you will receive the payment automatically.
