Weekly Round-Up
Yesterday, the Chancellor gave the British people an invoice for Tory chaos.
No matter how they try and spin it, working people in Enfield North and across the country are shouldering the burden of an economic crisis made in Downing Street.
We have the highest tax burden since the Second World War after 24 Tory tax rises in this Parliament, including a huge £6 billion council tax hike.
Living standards will fall over 7% in the next two years.
Wages are still lower in real terms than they were when the Tories came to power in 2010.
The UK is forecast to have the highest inflation rate of any G7 nation.
So what does the Chancellor have to offer? Reheated austerity that didn’t work in 2010 and it won’t work now.
The Tories have trashed any perception of economic competence and proved that Britain cannot afford another day of a Conservative government.
Remembrance Service
I was honoured to join leaders from across our community at Enfield Town’s war memorial for a moving Remembrance Sunday service.
We must always remember the sacrifice of those who serve and have given their lives in defence of our country.
Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Day
To mark Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Day, I joined Pancreatic Cancer UK at their event in Parliament, bringing together families who have lost loved ones with researchers, experts, and politicians.
Pancreatic Cancer is a devastating disease, with the UK having for too long lagged behind when it comes to survival rates.
The need for early diagnosis, effective treatment pathways, and investment in our workforce has never been more important.
Carterhatch Junior School Visit
As part of UK Parliament Week, I had the pleasure of visiting students at Carterhatch Junior School where I spoke about my journey into politics, how Parliament works, and my role as the local constituency MP.
The pupils were full of fantastic questions, and I’m sure we’ll see some of them on the green benches themselves in the future!
