Feryal Clark MP reacts to Labour Party Conference

Labour’s annual conference in Brighton this week marked the first time our Labour family was able to come together since the start of the Coronavirus pandemic, and the first time under Keir Starmer’s leadership.

This conference, the Labour Party needed to show it was serious about change and rebuilding trust with the people of our country.

Keir Starmer, with immense leadership and courage, has shown this week that he understands this challenge, and is ready to face it head on.

The Tories have wreaked havoc on communities in Enfield North and across the UK over the last 11 years, and they cannot afford to wait another 11 years for a Labour Government.

Our country stands at a crossroads. One path leads back where we came from. None of the lessons of Coronavirus are heeded. But there is another path down which we address the chronic problems revealed by Coronavirus with the kindness and the togetherness that got us through.

That is why it was so important that Labour presented a confident, coherent, and credible plan for Government, combining leadership people can trust with a policy platform that meets the challenges of the post-pandemic world.

Whether it be on a radical Green New Deal, transforming the way we care for those with mental health conditions, investing in the safety of our communities with neighbourhood policing, or supporting our children’s future with a recovery guarantee, Keir has presented a serious plan for Government that will meet those challenges.
