Feryal Clark MP hails social workers as the “forgotten frontline” during the pandemic
Feryal Clark, MP for Enfield North, has hailed social workers across Enfield as one of the “forgotten frontlines” throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. Following World Social Work Day on the 16th March, Feryal has praised the hard work, selflessness and bravery of social workers who support some of the most vulnerable people and families in Enfield North.
The British Association of Social Workers (BASW), which represents over 21,000 social workers across the UK, has been supporting social workers throughout the pandemic, including campaigning for access to testing and safe access to health and care settings.
Feryal is also supporting World Social Work Month, a series of online events and activities to celebrate and champion social work in the UK and internationally. The majority of events are free to attend and open to both socials workers and anyone who wants to learn more about the profession.

Feryal Clark, MP for Enfield North, said:
“Over the course of this pandemic many people will have needed additional or new support. Whilst it has been a difficult year for all public professionals, much of the focus has been on health workers and care workers, and social workers have become the forgotten frontline doing everything they can to keep people who need extra support safe and well, despite the increasing pressures.
“As we emerge from the pandemic, the work of over 120,000 UK social workers will be essential to recovering wellbeing and good mental health. The Government must ensure that this workforce is offered the resources and strong foundations they need to succeed.
“I am proud to champion the important and valuable work social workers do in Enfield North this World Social Work Month.”
