Enfield North MP encourages constituents to #TalkMoney
Feryal Clark MP is encouraging constituents to discuss money concerns or tips with friends and family during Talk Money Week, especially given the unprecedented and challenging financial circumstances that we find ourselves in with the coronavirus pandemic.
Talk Money Week runs between 9-13 November this year and aims at improving the conversation around money so that finances have less of an impact on people’s physical and mental wellbeing.
Citizens Advice reported at the end of October, that they estimate 6 million adults in the UK had fallen behind on at least one household bill during the pandemic, with a total of £1.6 billion owed.
Feryal Clark MP said:
“I’ve spoken to so many people who in ordinary times consider themselves comfortable with their finances but have had the rug pulled out from under them during this crisis.
“There are so many concerns about businesses surviving, redundancy and unemployment, and being able to afford the necessities. Accompanying these concerns are often feelings of shame and embarrassment, but that is something we have to change. We must talk more about our financial situations to find help and to support our mental and physical health.
“There are people out there to help and Citizens Advice Enfield are fantastic if you need any help and advice. Please, if you are struggling, reach out to them today.”
Citizens Advice Enfield can be reached through their website at citizensadviceenfield.org.uk or on the phone at 0300 330 1167.
